But, just as with any other opportunity out there, it requires work, skill and perserverence to keep going when it seems hard.

This is a pyramid scheme, while early in its inception most will make money but eventually the well will dry up and that $499 start up fee will stop coming in and the company will fail. This has been proven over and over again that is the defenition of a pyramid scheme; starts strong at the begining but eventually you get tothe top and have no where else to go. Please just use your head and do not waste your money.
Newsflash....they've been around since 2001 and have experienced an 800% growth in the past 4 years. Featured in multiple publications to include segments on MSNBC and CNN. There's even an incentive right now which allows you to retrieve the initial $499 you put out...plus an additional $500 if you follow the instructions provided within the first 30 days. How can you go wrong. As with everything...it's all about what you put in it......which will determine what you get out of it.
It is so interesting to read all comments. No one says anything about the products, technology, the savings with VOIP versus land line connections. This business makes sense if I can be my own best customer when I compare it to the years of paying traditional phone companies with not a chance of reaping any profit.

I was approached about the opportunity and the rep said "I am new, so I cant answer your questions, come to the Hampton Inn and they will explain the program" Whose is they? and how come you cant explain it if you are a rep? What are the details of the product and service. In MLM, you are only as good as your upline? Whats really going on?
if you start working in a career that you had no prior expirience in and needed to be trained properly to work on your own then you won't be the best recruiter or P.R. person!
Documentation beats conversation. Look at the product that is being marketed, they are services that are paid monthly ,from well established conmpanies(Direct Tv, dish Network etc.) 5 LINX is on to something.
5linx seemed interesting at first, but it really does require a lot of your time and money. The company's main flow of income is the membership fees. It's really another way to make a profit. I looked at most of the products offered and even though they are known monthly services the first thing that comes mind is: why would someone sign-up with a 5linx rep rather than directly with the company offering the service? I was told that because 5linx offers a better rate. Not really. I looked at almost all of them and the rates are not less. It's actually better to go directly with the company offering the service. VoIP? magicJack is $20 for the entire year and yes you can have all the standard features voice-mail, call waiting, forward, etc. Video calls? The cool gadget is $250 bux! The monthly bill is $30 a month and the other people you can video talk to must also have the expensive gadget and service. I would rather continue video chating for free on my PC and continue making my phone calls to other countries with my magicJack.
Well the membership fee isn't actually a membership fee they are services to track your business, and they're optional.Heck, Magic Jack or Skype won't pay me and even if it might cost someone more than from the dealer, they probaly won't mind if its going to benefit a friend or family member in 5LINX!

Having played the Network Marketing game for awhile, a few things people need to understand. One cannot claim this to be a Pyramid Scheme...Pyramid Schemes have no products....this obviously does. Also, the comment of "The company's main flow of income is the membership fees" is a rather sad comment. This certainly will NOT attract anyone who wants there to be SUBSTANCE to a company's offering and not be relying on 'membership'...this assuming of course that said person has any real authority and facts to make such a claim in the first place.

This seems to compete with land line service, however, I have not had a home landline in 8 years. I pay one monthly fee for almost unlimited calls in the USA from my cell phone. My cell phone goes with me anywhere I want - I am not tied to my home or computer. Many people are discontinuing their land line. Why would this service be any better? Does it work with your laptop or cell phone that you can take with you?

i was at a presentation this weekend the representation could not expland how the growth was calculated. If the $499 each representative pays to joy is the growth then the growth is in the concept. I have not seen on post explaining the product and how well it works and how they invest in the technologhy to become the market leader. I also noticed you had to ask questions individually at the end, why? I would think questions would help everyone in the audience. Can someone explain how well the product is doing and what are the numbers for the product in terms of sales not initiation fees? is there a monthly fee that was not mentioned at the presentation?

I laugh at anyone who calls mlm a pyramid scheme, you make yourself look like an idiot. Take any company you work with there is always someone at the very top making all the money while others on lower levels do all the work. Why is it everyone I have talked to who are involved with this company cannot expain to me how it works? I get the same answer from all of them " I cant explain exactaly how it works". Sounds like a load of shit to me.
I am an otr truck driver looking for a positive change. So far, from what I can see, its a very interesting and exciting opportunity.
As a trucker, I train new drivers. Recently I had to put my last student off the truck because he constantly complained about how the company operated. He was there to "learn" the business but yet criticized everything I tried to teach him. Unless you want are serious about learning the business, then keep your trap shut and go about your life. If you are interested in it, then learn everything you can about it. Take the leap. Life is all about taking chances. We take chances everytime we step out the front door of our home to go to wherever we're going. I can't stand negativity. If you think its a bunch of "shit" as you put it, then, as everyone else has been telling people like you, go back to your deadend job and live a dull life. I have had enough of living a dull life. I just became a 5Linx rep about 3 weeks ago. The VoIP phone service is only one of the MANY products offered by 5Linx. I have looked into multiple MLM businesses and all require work, dedication and personal skills. MLM and direct sales have made more people wealthy than any other businesses. MLM is not Pyramiding. Pyramiding is illegal in the United States and most other countries. A Pyramid scheme is just that a scheme. There are no products, no rewards for workers and no way to get ahead of the person ahead of you. Pyramid schemes do not last years. They last weeks or months and then the guys at the top take the money and run. Multilevel Marketing or Network Marketing whatever you wish to call it is a good way to own your own business and create true sustainable wealth. One just has to find a company/product line one can believe in and then be willing to work as hard as necessary to succeed.
5Linx is not a scam per say but it is also not a very lucrative opportunity for most individuals. I was was an ET and was about to become an ND. I have a friend that has been doing it for almost 5 years and is still unable to "make it rich"
Please stop spouting off about traditional jobs vs 5linx...once you are signed up they start telling you just how traditional a job it is......you will be "working most weekends...nights and evenings.......the minute you stop working...stop paying them 100 per month (its not $49 for the full featured website you will need)...and purchasing their poor services(vioce, video phone)....just like a "normal" job, the money stops......I worked it hard and made about 2000 over a year.......compare that to how much I had to spend for marketing materials, quarterly trainings, travel etc.....it was a net loss....by double.

If you are making over 60K per year and are responsible and living within your means...5 Linx is a waste of your time.....if you make 20k per year at a dead end job.....you dont have much to loose...but for most, the reason they are at that 20k per year job would signal they are not agressive enough for 5Linx......they will fail.
The products and services they tout are poor quality and their customer service is Horrible.....I mean horrible.....Go ahead adn sign up....I was embarassed that I signed up my family and friends for the service...I am talking over 50 folks....and they have all sice cancelled the service...guess what...there goes you supposed residual money......they tell you that you make money for as long as the people keep the service........but they give just horrible service and support that many cancel........so much for the hard work.......

The thing that people who are not in the network marketing industry need to realize is 1) that network marketing is legal where a "pyramid scheme" is not...when's the last time you heard about an actual pyramid scheme?!? That's just something people say because they don't have the full knowledge of this industry and 2)that despite what company you decide to join, you should be joining with a long term goal in mind. Residual income will beat linear income any day of the week, but you need to be coachable, ambitious, self-motivated and have a desire for a better life.
And as someone mentioned earlier, the team you join can have a major impact on your success.
I spent the last year or so learning how to recruit, prospect and market online BEFORE I have opened up membership to my team, because I quickly realized that if all you know how to do is have home meetings, chase family, friends and strangers then, yes, it will be hard to "make it rich." I tried to cancel within 10 days form the notice of cancellation and they will not accept it. They told me you missed 3 days but regardless they got my money and refused to pay me back. I have 5 PERSONAL friends that are PSVPs and are averaging between $150,000 to 475,000 (excluding bonuses, incentives and the Bentley.) So please get your facts straight before you write propaganda! If it is not for you-then fine...keep it moving. I started last week, and just received my $1000 bonus after a $249 investment, so if its a scam...oh well I am three times richer than I was a week ago!!!

I would like someone who is supporting 5linx to tell me how many people in the company are driving Bentleys, making 6 figures and are living the good life - and how many are not. How many people do I have to have in my downline to drive a Bentley? I hear a lot of people saying that you have to join the right team to make a lot of money. Sounds like I need to join the right team to make my upline rich. Can anyone from 5linx explain why so many people are complaining online about not getting their money back when they decide that the program is not right for them? I know a few 5linx reps and no one is selling the products - just the idea of becoming rich from starting a downline - why is that? And nobody can show me how much money they are making. Probably because the 5linx reps that are out there still recruiting are not making very much money, if any. How many 5linx reps have ruined friendships, family relationships because they tricked their loved ones into joining and they ended up not making money because they are not the marketing type? The 5linx reps that have asked me to join have promised to pay for my startup fees but never mentioned the monthly and annual fees - is 5linx telling their reps to use the old bait and switch method to sign people up? My wife and I have worked extremely hard and have reached our financial goals the honest way. 5linx reps are very foolish to think that their shady business dealings do not resemble that of a pyramid scheme. Do I have to draw what a downline looks like to show you how a pyramid works? Are you 5linx folks brainwashed or what? Or maybe just a bunch of glorified car sales people?
I have been doing my research and 5linx is just like all the companies out there that are not MLM - the bottom line is, the top people make the money and the people on the bottom of the pyramid have to work extremely hard to get anywhere. They have to invest a lot of money, besides their monthly and annual fees, to attract people to their meetings. What's the likelihood that I know a bunch of people that are great at marketing? Highly unlikely. So what happens if I can't get anyone to join my downline? Will 5linx give me my money back? Any company that promotes shady business dealings and doesn't police their reps will eventually be taken down by the government anyways. I would like to see a 5linx rep try to sell me their products versus trying to hire mem now that would be interesting. The 5linx rep that tried to sign me up showed me his T-mobile phone - I was not impressed.

Statistically speaking 95% of most start-up businesses fail within the first year. That is what everyone is forgetting. 5linx is a business franchise but without the huge cost it would require to start one. Being in business for yourself and being successful is not a task that everyone can accomplish. I am an entrepreneur so joining 5linx just made business sense to me because I know what it takes to make a business grow. Also, being in 5linx is not a get rich quick scheme. The problem is that most people do not have the patience to see it through past 4 months. It takes principles: BELIEF, ENTHUSIASM, FOCUS, PERSEVERANCE, & A Powerful WHY to sustain you through the growing process. I personally know 5 SVPs and 1 PSVP and the BMW's are real, the Bentley is real. So it is not a scam but not everyone will be successful at it because not everyone has the type of determination that will get them there. However, if you have the determination to succeed you will get there. If you are working a job, guess what? You're in a pyramid! Also, in a company you cannot replace the guy who is at the top of the pyramid (your job)unless they are fired, die, or quit. Besides that, in what job do you know you gives you the opportunity to double or triple your income in just three years? That is the type of success possible for anyone who sticks with it. Not everyone has that mindset that is why 95% don't make it. 3% of the population are wealthy, there's a reason. Its survival of the fittest. I can tell you the people I personally know that are successful at 5linx were diligent and driven. One in particular my PSVP told me and our other friends about 5 linx in 2007, I personally didn't have interest because I didn't want to have to try and sell anything to people. But now, 3 years later, he is making a 6-figure income, driving a Bentley that is 100% paid for and we're all now rushing to get in the game. I'm determined to stick it through and am confident that in 3 years I'll be able to look back and say Thank God I decided to join 5 linx when I did. And about the products, 5linx continually improves on their technology and has added other reputable services to its offerings for their reps. Why wouldn't I get my verizon cell phone service through my own company so I can atleast make a commission off of something I have to pay everymonth anyway? Even if its only $.50, that's still going back into my pocket instead of going to someone else!
There A TON of careers out there to make "residual" income rather than straight salary, its called sales. I'm not sold either way on these MLM companies but from the presentations I have gone to it seems that everyone knows a guy who knows a guy who makes good money; or maybe they just heard about that guy at the intro of the presentation. Before you invest your money into something like this, sell insurance for a year or get your securities licenses. I do know plenty of financial advisors who make well over $100K a year in trails, but its after a decade of hard work and relationship development. Remember people, you never get rich quick off of someone else's good idea.
Just Learn about 5 linx my brother and sister-n-law are with the company thingking about joining myself. what i like is that i can get paid for paying my everyday bills. Yea so i have to get 2 people under me so what pretty surre my friends wouldn't mind saving money and making money off the bills they alrready pay every month. I've just recently joined 5linx, and I can say that all of you negative nancies are wrong. A scam? What kind of a scam is broadcasted on NBC news? What kind of scam is featured in INC 500, a magazine that features the top 500 fastest growing private companies? This is the same magazine that featured Microsoft for 2 years in a row. 5linx has been on it for 4 years. Is that a scam?? Or is it just you being negative because you didn't have what it took? Funny thing is, when I read some of the people who like to talk down about 5linx...your basic grammar and spelling isn't even correct. How the heck would I trust anyone who can't even type with proper 3rd grade grammar? No wonder you didn't succeed with 5linx. Forget all the other things you need to succeed with the company. If you can't even type properly with correct spelling and grammar...NO WONDER you failed with 5linx. Key point: YOU HAVE TO HAVE A BRAIN. Since obv you failures don't...I'm not surprised you failed. And yes, I personally know people who got their free BMW and Bentley. Enjoy working extra hard for the rest of your life. I used to sell insurance for the elderly. Go buy some long term care or medicare supplements. You're def gonna need them when you start dying of old age and have no money. Good luck.

I signed up in October, for their now only $249 sign-up cost(it was $499), and received a $1,000 bonus for signing up my first 2 team members and gaining 10 customer points within 30 days. @Skeptic: I don't know exactly how hard someone has to work to sell you what you already use. He showed you his T-mobile phone because it's just that simple. Instead of going to a wireless phone store on the street, like many of us do, you are signing up for the same service(At&t, T-mobile, Nextel, Sprint, and Verizon) via that rep's website. If that rep can save you some money, then what's the difference? It's as simple as asking a friend or family member, "Do me a favor? Next time you upgrade your cell phone, can you go through me?" super. hard. whoa. You're not forcing anyone to do anything, nor is anyone supposed to be TRICKING people into joining this program. Those who join should come in with their eyes wide open to all the high's and low's of the business. I know for a fact that noone can trick me into paying them $500 bucks for anything, lol. Also, for your information, ANY company that pays commissions to associates/workers to sell items for them is considered a pyramid. This includes Radio Shack(used to work there, associates earn commissions + management gets bonuses for making the most sales per region), Clear.com, most home security providers, comcast, and many other big businesses that people shop every day. I think the best part of everyone's reactions here is their ignorance to the reality of MLMs. These companies last b/c they take advantage of people's desperation to earn a living. Anyone who is willing to work hard can start their own business- it doesn't have to be one of these scam companies, and it doesn't cost a "fee" of $499 to do. Educate yourself before you write that check to someone promoting something like this. Your money is probably better spent elsewhere.
(As for everyone else- learn some proper English before you start responding on places like this. It's sad when you can't even use proper grammar.)
A couple of corrections, both directions. Wikipedia defines "A pyramid scheme is a non-sustainable business model that involves promising participants payment, services or ideals, primarily for enrolling other people into the scheme or training them to take part, rather than supplying any real investment or sale of products or services to the public. Pyramid schemes are a form of fraud." This is the basic legal definition as well.
5Linx is definitely not a Pyramid Scheme. I am not a Rep, but my son is, and I have been watching from the sidelines for three months now. 5Linx has real products that actually cost less than you can obtain them for elsewhere. This week I replaced my Satellite TV, one business line, one residence line and Internet connection with my same Satellite TV carrier (I could renew), two digital phones and Internet DSL thru the same carrier I already had, and it saved me $148 a month. Where is the ripoff in me saving money? I already got one of the bills, and it looks just like my bill always did.
A couple of weeks ago we ordered three Cell Phones, Droids, from 5Linx, two of them were $9.99 and one by the big M mfg was $99. I stayed with my same carrier and my bill still comes from that carrier. The carrier wanted $149 each for the ones I paid $9 for and $179 for the one I paid $99 for, and I would have had to submit a $100 rebate for each phone. Out the door with 5Linx was about $125. Out the door with the carrier would have been $777, then I would have had to wait 60 for the $300 in rebates. Statistics show that almost 40% of rebates are never returned. Don't think the carriers don't know this. The final savings on those three phones was $350, that is a lot of money. If this is a ripoff, please rip me off.
Right now 5Linx has an A+ Rating from the Better Business Bureau, with 40 complaints over the last 10 years, all resolved. That is GOOD.
The 800% growth that they quote is computed by Inc Magazine, not 5Linx. But I think that was for just one year, it may not have been that high every year. But they were in the Inc 500 four years in a row.
Then there is the gas and electric thing. If I just sign up myself, I will probably save about $20 to $30 a month on that alone. That will more than pay my $249 entry fee within a year.
But what really sold me is I found out about a program 5Linx has called Linx2Funds. I am going to have a friend of my who is a Tax Attorney look at this, but from what I see, it is one of the best fund raising vehicles going. I want to show it to my kids school. They have closed the music and art programs for all intents, and this might help.
I am going to do it. I watched it and really researched it. I come from a long history of small businesses, and to start your own business takes a ton of work and especially that P word, persistence. You can't give up. The real statistic on small business failure, the most recent, is that on average, 50% will fail, that is any type of business. Some industries are better, some worse. But most small businesses take WAY more than $300 or $400 to start. $10K or $20K would be a small investment.
From that perspective, even if I don't make it big, I have not lost, I can always just buy my own services at a discount. I do think that too much emphasis may be put on the making it rich part. My mother sold Avon all of my childhood, and never made over about $300 a month at it. But that $300 a month sure came in handy, and we might not have made it without it.
I just don't see any ripoff, at all.

I have been a police officer for 17yrs. I have been a detective for 11 of those years. I have to address several things I read and I hope the people who wrote them read this information. 5Linx is a network marketing business like Avon, Mary Kay, & Amway, just to name a few. Warren Buffett is the 3rd richest man in the world right now and he owns several network marketing companies. Donald Trump just launched his own as well. This business is built through customer acquisition & building a team. Understand that most companies are built the same way. 5Linx provides a car allowance of UP to $800 a month for a silver BMW to people who achieve the position of Senior Vice President. I know it because I achieved the position of SVP( Senior Vice President) in 27 months of being in the business. I started out doing 40hrs a MONTH and now I am down to 25hrs a month. On a part time basis I bring home more in a month with 5Linx then I net with my police department of 17yrs.
I learned not to listen to people who had my problem, but listen to people who have my answer. A lot of people in 5Linx DO NOT have the BMW's because most people value someone else opinion over their own and they quit. See NO is a word often heard in this business but a lot of people can't handle hearing the word NO over and over again. I ask you, how many people are the CEO's at their job? How many people in corporate have their own parking space? How many police chiefs do I have? 1 or a few should be the answer to those questions. In this business you build it as big as you want. See all the people who posted here about scam this and scam that are people who are not truly educated on this type of business model. Those are the same people who WANT THE MAXIMUM, but ONLY do the minimum. Life is what you put in it. You can be the best you want or the worst, it's your call. See I learned people who fail it's never their fault. Life gets better if you praise people for your success and take the blame for your failures. 5Linx is a legit MLM company. The $249 investment is for your licensing fee to market the products of all the services we offer. Try opening a Sprint store or any other cell store in any town USA for $249. I will have to come lock you up...lol. It costs roughly $150,000 to open a cell store. I have all the products they have and less headaches. The $49.00 a month is the overhead to run your business. All businesses, legal or illegal have overhead. See again people want something for free. Our VOIP service is ranked in the top 100 VOIP companies in the world. We are ahead of Vonage and Verizon. Just to address magicjack real quick. Great idea, but they have no customer service. Think of it this way, your computer has to stay on 24rs a day for your magicjack to work, so more electricity is used sending your other bill higher. Also God forbid someone is breaking into your home late night and you need to call 911, well if your computer is off, you have to wait for it to boot up(if you not hurt already) to call me(911).
The pyramid issue. Take out a piece of paper. Draw a circle at the top. That is the CEO of a company, then under the CEO draw a rectangle, then write board of directors in the box, then several other boxes from there and in each box write upper management, then under them put more boxes and write middle management, then even more boxes write lower management, then cover the bottom of the page all the way across and write workers. Ask yourself, where are you in that corporate pyramid? There was no bigger skeptic then me, but I shut up and I listened and I followed a system that has our family positioned to break the poverty curse that was on our lives. Good day to everyone. I started working with 5linx as my homebase business. I registered my daughter in 5 linx, too.I will cancel my present services. I will all shift to 5 linx. I trust the company, because I know it is legitimate, and the comments about this company being legal and true is the truth. To each his own phase and belief in himself. This is "technology age", and VOIP dominating the communication all over the world. Everything is your choice, no one is forcing you to do anything. In globalinx, I believe in sowing before reaping. Both my daughters and I will be working on weekends only because teaching is a full- week day jobs, but publicly, I want to declare that we will be able to save with 5linx. No more paycheck to paycheck and bills to bill salary check. what I have not saved in the past from teaching and other little businesses, I will have have it in five links. Patience is virtue, but burning desire to succeed at this point in time is the correct ingredient to do it in five links. I have family that does similar business models and that is fine, I will not knock it. Amway, advocare is all fine and dandy. My sister is very successful at what she does. My Aunt is very high up the food chain with Amway. So I know people can be successful. But, they both have the capital to put into the start up and have the reserve funds to get through tough stretches. So I agree it can work, another but, they have the aforementioned funds and have strong ties to this respected community (like a police officer might) and a what I would say I are people persons. Niether one went to college or anything like that. Now what I have an issue with is the people, alot on here, that say things like; "continue to work your regular job and be unhappy." or, "you quit that is why you are a failure." and non-sense like that. With the structure these companies have, not everyone will be successful, and even a smaller amount of people can sustain success. I went to college, I have my MBA, I got my CFP and all of those things I worked hard for. If I lose my job, these credentials are still there and I wi be in high demand with other companies. The same can not be said for companies like this. I don't hBe pipe deem promises that few attain like cars and such. I work hard for my 6 figures and I have plenty of ceiling left in my career, and I am not 30 yet. And guess what, in my profession, there are thousands of under-30 professionals who are in my exact situation. They worked their ass off and made it. The same again, can not be said for this type of company.
And a side note, for anyone that thinks a BMW or a Bentley means you made it to some sort of goal...I feel sorry for you. That is a way to hold you down. I new home is tangible and will appreciate in value. A 401k with matching is appreciable in value and will sustain all economic cycles. Having your Childs college education paid for before they reach high school, that is sustainable. Some overpriced car that will lose %40 of it's value this instant you pull off the lot is not wealthy or rich, it is stupid and a cheap thrill.
So, I wl take my education an work experience and continue to be successful the "traditional" way. And I feel sorry for people that feel sorry for people like me. Get an education or a trade that will last once this 5-link company shuts it's doors, because it will.
I do think that 5 linx could be a good opportunity to make extra money.However it requires a lot of time and effort and i do mean a lot of time. And thats what must people who sign up don't get.You probably wouldn't see any real profit for at least 2 years into the business and thats if youre good at it.I work for the post office and i do real estate on the side.The economy is at it's worst thank god i do work a 9 to 5.With the economy so bad nothing is stable not even 5 linx but i don't see how anybody could go wrong by joining

I recently attended a 5Linx "Super Saturday" meeting, and what I learned is this:
1)If you are looking to "get rich quick", you have a better chance at winning the lottery. This system requires people who have the patience to see things through.
2)In this type of business,Individual success = Company success.
3)In order to succeed at their system, you need to not only be persistent and consistent, but you need a certain level of order and balance in your life. In other words, you need to "have your shit together". Let me explain.
4)If you don't have the time to "network",then this is not for you.
5)If you aren't a "people person", this isn't for you.
6)If you are easily discouraged, THIS IS NOT FOR YOU!
7)If you have no drive, no ambition, nor an inkling of "Get up and go", don't even consider this.
But most importantly, if you have a negative attitude, are unfocused and/or you don't believe in yourself, how can you believe in the products/services that you are promoting?
I am no expert of this industry, nor am I a member of 5Linx or any network marketing company for that matter. I am just someone who heard about this company and decided to check it out. And from the research that I've done they are a legitimate business.
As far as all the comments that are posted here, both sides have a point.Those who had unfortunate experiences with the company for whatever reason,were just that, unfortunate. And those who have succeeded have achieved their level of success INDIVIDUALLY.
I am not in this yet but I have done alot of research on mlm's and 5linx is one of the best I have seen. If you are the sort os person who can't do commission work then this sort of job is not for you at all. people with atleast some commission experience are more likely to succeed, expecially if they have to sell products or services to make the money. They are going to be more motivated to get what needs to be done, done.
Anyone thinking of joining 5linx should ask the basic questions that anyone thinking of getting involved in a business should ask. 1. Is the product a feasible one? YES it is but at a mark up that most customers wouldn't even consider. Skype, Google Voice, and several other internet based companies offer the same video chatting capabilities at a tenth of the price that 5linx offers, and there is no equipment to buy if you already have a smart phone or laptop. 2. What is the failure rate in this industry? most mlm's have a failure rate of 96% or higher, so if 100 people join only 4 would make medium to substantial income. One may think that they will be one of the 4 but only a fool would think that these are good odds. 3. Who are my competitors and how close are they to me? pretty much anyone with a pulse and the sign up fee in hand. The only thing that separates 5linx from being a pyramid scheme is the product and the fact that the many people that invest don't expect their investment back. In a typical pyramid scheme there is no product and the investor invests thinking they will get a rate of return in an X amount of time, this goes on until new investors can't be found anymore at which point the whole thing comes crashing down. The beauty with 5linx and every other MLM company is that they have a product so that makes them legal and the fact that most people who invest their sign-up fee don't expect their money back if they do not reach the unattainable goals that the mlm company sets. Therefore the thing keeps going on and on and on. Listen, if you want to be a business owner, take some business courses at your local community college and learn the basics of business and all the pitfalls that could come with being your own boss and if it still makes sense to you do your research and due diligence and start or buy a real business. STAY AWAY FROM MLM's (unless it just started)
Most of the feedback on this site is helpful. The reality is that it IS a business that needs some time dedicated to it. I'm currently considering joining. The "charles" (above) had some great points re the competition and the success rate of the mlm business in general, and so did "Marvin S" It might be worth looking into for a side income-generating business, assuming other 5linx-ers haven't already signed up your personal network of friends and family.

I have a sister who's trying this 5linx first I tried to give this a fair chance...Like the marketing student said, why do you have to pay 499.00 to make money....for them...then you have to collect points...you have to change over to all the stuff you are trying to sell....then if that wasn't enough you have to get more points to be a certain type of rep. of course this involves another purchase of a 5linx product for yourself... this is the slickest format... you buy in and you keep buying-in...so they won't fold...as long as they keep foolish people trying to get rich quick...by the time you pay them then you buy the products to get points...who else do they need to make them legit...they got their own reps. paying for the back office websites....the Flagship video phone that doesn't work....so if you can to somebody else out of over 1000.00+ bucks you don't need to offer any good product... the poor souls buying this lie won't be able to keep it long enough to see how bad the products are. as for all this NEWS coverage....you look CNN nothing....Google news----one press release.....Press release....on there 5linx site nbc10 news Rochester NY...I looked for that from the couldn't find the story...I do plan to contact the reporter. I searched her....this company is making all these big money promises....I'm sure not one of these reps. have any contract with 5linx to pay them anything...this is a private owned co. this globalinx is suppose to be going up against companies like AT & T Version please you plug in AT&T vs Version you can compare something...try doing that with Globalinx??? Nobody in the world of BUSINESS has one word to say about 5linx.... Why's that??? It's not a business... and to say companies like AVON and Mary Kay do the something....I say Not...they sell something people want. how long do you think a person can keep paying for a back office each month and not making any money...but I have to give it to 5linx, they do make you commit...by the time they finish getting you (qualified) to Rep. you're switched over and paying through your a$$ and no$e!!!!
If you really think about it, as an IT the services provided by 5 Linx are services that they buy from companies and resale back to the consumer at a discounted rate. The CU-3000 is old technology. The Tangos, Quik, and other apps on android phones are free. Realizing that the person you are trying to reach needs to have the same technology on the other end.(Hmmmm!)People are looking to use something that is compact and mobile. Not big and clunky. You have OOVO and Skype..FREE! All they are doing is bundling packages. No more than the average company is doing. One thing about MLM's is that if you don't come in at the top you will be constantly hustling to get people in to make your money. Be a critical thinker. If you want to make money do something you are passionate about and see that you will be doing 5 to 10 years from now. You can have a degree within that amount of time and be your own boss. MLM's come and go. Corporations get bought and sold. Then you look up and you have wasted time and energy on something that is not guaranteed;0) Just a thought.
I think all of these comments are valid, not necessarily all true, but valid! I have been in the industry for a short period so I won't claim to speak from a place of expertise. But I have a few degrees, work a traditional job that delivers leadership development for major organizations, and can honestly say that if you work for an organizaiton, you are in a pyramid and your CEO is capitalizing and leveraging your efforts for monetary gain. MLM are legitimate and the odds of you being successful in one is similar to the odds of you becoming Bill Gates. But guess what?!! Bill Gates wasn't always Bill Gates, and I am sure in the beginning of his business life, he experienced many setbacks, disbelievers, etc. The key to succeeding in any venture is have the skills required to succeed, expect some failures but learn from thme and keep moving toward your goal. Period.

J’ai adhérer a titre de représentant 5Linx l’année passée et malheureusement, je me suis vite aperçu que tout ce que cette compagnie voulait, était mon argent et maintenant encore je reçois des invitations Payantes mais aucun suivi de la part des personnes avec qui j’ai eu mon premier rendez-vous et que j’ai payé pour avoir seulement quelques bouts de papiers!
Plusieurs personnes m’ont demandés pour pouvoir avoir le service téléphonique de 5Linx mais malheureusement n’ayant aucun moyen de les inscrire, je n’ai pu leurs donner satisfaction.
En terminant je crois que 5Linx est la tout simplement pour ramasser notre argent et je déconseille a qui que ce soit de payer des montants inutiles et de plus pour ne rien avoir en retour. C’est mon opinion au sujet de cette compagnie.
I have to adhere to representative 5Linx the last year and unfortunately, I quickly realized that all that this company wanted, was my money and still maintaining I receive invitations Paying but no follow-up on behalf of the people with whom I had my first go and that I paid to have only some bits of paper!
Several people asked me to be able to have the telephone service of 5Linx but unfortunately not having any means of registering them, I could not their give satisfaction.
While finishing I believe that 5Linx is quite simply to collect our money and I disadvise has anyone to pay useless amounts and moreover nothing to have in return. It’s my opinion about this company.

It is funny how people say "Pyramid" working at the bottom of one for years, letting their CEO and upper management capitalize on their efforts for 40 year or more, but if someone decides to build their own pyramid they say "illegal". I wonder who's talking? Most likely people at the top of corporate pyramid that does not want you to even try to become wealthy and continue to make wealth for them and not for yourself. 5LINX has doctors, lawyers, real estate professionals trying to become SVP. On the other hand no SVP is trying to become lawyer or a doctor :) Something to think about. We have great team in NY try state area. Yes dedication, skills and hard work is required to achieve success in 5LINX, but isn't it true for any occupation? I personally know quite a few people making steady income from 5LINX. Me? I am new in 5LINX, making slow but steady progress. 5LINX is not get rich quick scam and don't expect to make a lot of money right away. Just like any new business you have to develop it first before you see any reward. The ownership cost is $249 plus some investments of about 400 dollars total in the beginning. But company will give you back the money and some if you follow the 30 day plan. 5LINX products: CU-3000 video phone is in my opinion targets specific customer market such as elderly, people with disabilities and religious beliefs that can not use skype, but for $30 doll/month plus $10 doll/month GLOBALINX app that works with video phone, similar to skype and 3 way video conferencing i think it's pretty good deal after all for $40/month video calls. Verizon will change you $60-80/month and will laugh at you if you ask for video calls. I don't know any cell phone company that offers such a deal, do you? There are other products and services that 5LINX offers that will help small business increase their profits for fraction of the cost. If you ever think about direct sales, in my opinion 5LINX is it. 5 linx service provider globalinx has been aware of a variety of problems with their dta boxes yet they only want our money, they are a misleading company who will send you to tech support again and again, however they are not willing on behave of customer service to offer refunds or much compensation for your troubles. They will encourage you to get faster internet saying most of the problems have to do with the speed but as I have found the case to be even with faster internet speed 5 times faster than what I first had for a speed problems still persist. In my opinion this company is only in it for your money and not for representatives first as they say. Integrity is not one of their foundational practices as they say.
I have actually reviewed quite a few MLM business models. Some are better than others, but only in the actual value of the products/services they offer.
To say that it works for anyone willing to put in the time and hard work that it requires is a half-truth. When you say that it will WORK, what exactly do you mean? Do you mean that you can make SOME money? I can sell candy and make SOME money. Some feel that it is a scam. With good reason though. There is no such thing as a sure thing when it comes to MLM models. Most recruiters only talk about the money they they are generating (in SOME cases it is untrue).
If you want to know the TRUTH about any of these businesses using an MLM model. Here are a few questions to ask them. If they are friends, they will be truthful and answer without hesitation. If they don't want to share the truth with you, they will hesitate in response or answer your question without REALLY answering your question.
1. How long have you been doing this?
2. How much money have you made since you started?
3. How many recruits have you brought into the business since you started?
4. How many recruits do you have under you today?
5. How much money on average are your recruits making?
6. How many people within this team (SVP on down) are doing this full-time, and what is there income?
These questions are not meant to disrespect or offend anyone. However, when asking these questions, you must pay attention to how they answer. Again, please pay close attention to the answers you get that don't really answer your question. Only if they want to hide the TRUTH will they do this. Otherwise, you may find that the person recruiting you is completely honest.
If you feel that everything is a lie, or that the answers are not genuine, please, simply tell them that this is not for me, and thanks for your time.
On the flip side, if you get complete transparency, in most cases, the answers to the questions above will not be favorable. Either way, if you are comfortable with what you've heard, by all means, give it a go.
The key question is "how many people on their team is doing this full-time"? If the only person doing it full-time is the SVP, there is your first problem. If there is so much money in it, why aren't the underlings able to do it full-time? Second questions to pay attention to, in connection with the first key question, is the difference between how many recruits the entire team has had come and go. This could be an indicator of how many people, tried it, was unhappy for whatever reason, and quit.
At the end of the day, every person in the business can't and won't make 6 figures, if so, everyone would be doing it. So, yes, consider if you have marketing, networking and sales experience. If not, this will more than likely not work for you. Also, if the person who approached you didn't offer to sell you the product/service first, but only to recruit you as a rep., be cautious. Or at least think about it, if you wouldn't purchase the product or service yourself, there's your answer.
Don't let them sell you on the need that other people have for their product if you don't see a need or desire for it yourself.
In my opinion, 5Linx is a complete racket. "Success" depends on a mound of half truths and an army of suckers signing on to make it "great" for the pushers up stream.
That's exactly what they are--pushers. Instead of pushing crack or heroin, they're pushing an improved self image, and an illusory future. "Picture your self in a new bentley..."

I have been in and looked at many many many mlm companies. I only know of 1 or 2 that actually made it. I lost money with all of them. I am a computer tech by trade so why the heck would I want to sell? How come only a small percentage are driving Bentleys and such? Any company that promises money money money has to be rooted in something not so Divine. The love of money is the root of all evil. To me that explains alot of things. They act as if this is some type of MLM Utopia. We'll see what happens when peeps start losing all that money and some of the top guys start disappearing when the govt. comes down on them eventually.
And that whole video call crap is so bpogus. How many people you know can afford to pay 250 for a friggin video phone? WHy would I give a crap about that in this down economy? That is a selling point for non IT persons. Like selling Ipads or the newest "fad."

I have been a 5linx rep now for 2 months. I am doing well and I think it is a good oppurtunity. I am a single mom and work a regular full time job. my goal is to make 5linx all I do in the future. My cousin is already a ED level and going strong. It is a business that takes time and hard work. Yes it is a pyramid type thing, but what job isn't? 5linx is not for everybody.if you don't have ambition and determination, then forget it...it won't work for you.If your not willing to take a risk to potentially reach your destiny, then stay where you're at and don't complain.Reaching a goal requires a sacrifice. Reaping a harvest requires sowing a seed. Even an un-circumcised philistine that applies Gods principles in life can succeed. Remember, any dead fish can float downstream, you have to go against the flow with all your strength to reach the spawning ground of your dreams.
You have to be a very driven person to handle 5LINX. There are a few on my downline who just gave up because they didn't have patience. 5LINX is not a scam and I've done well for myself within this company. Quitters don't believe in it because they failed at it. Im not trying to defend all MLM companies, but I've been with 3 and 5LINX is the only company that actually worked for me. Experience or no experience, if you have no ambition, you will fail. Im sorry! But don't get mad because the founders were intelligent. Thats crazy. Its a good company with a good compensation plan.

This is some bull.....It really can work for some, but for the majority of us, it doesn't work. And you want us to try and recruit other people and take their hard earned money to get into this pyramid...I don't think so. And the products that they sell they tell you that you will save money going through 5LINX....NOT TRUE!! I did my diligent search and realized you can get better deals going directly through the company's that sell the products! Just not for me!

LOL I want to ask you a quick question. What have you done in the industry that you can prove that would make one thought you might have even worth someone reading about a compensation plan? I am not even a 5Linx rep, however with almost absolute certainty I can guarantee you are not even a 6 figure income earner in any company in the industry. Oh and please do reply with the company that you are with so that I can critique the compensation plan, and point out how awful it is in comparison to half of the other companies in the industry.
